GREEK STATUTORY DECLARATIONS

A Greek Statutory Declaration is a document in which you make an official declaration or application for one of the Greek public services or Authorities. If you reside in Greece this is a simple matter of filling out a form and taking it to a local police station, tax office or other public service to be signed in the presence of a public service officer. If you do not reside in Greece, you will need to have this signed at the Greek Embassy or Consulate in the State you reside, in the presence of a Consulate official.

Statutory Declarations are used in Greece for a variety of purposes. Usually, the Authority in Greece which is requesting it will have given you a short description of the statement/declaration you will need to make. Here are a few examples of the reasons for which you may be requested to provide a Statutory Declaration:

  • Taxation purposes in Greece;

  • Bank Dealings and Transactions in Greece;

  • Statements of Identification for Legal purposes in Greece;

  • Registration of land/property in Greece;

  • Registration of Business or Company in Greece;

  • Dealings with Insurance/Social Security Authorities in Greece and

  • Other Legal, Business or Financial matters.

Every individual has a different reason for which they need a Statutory Declaration. Thus, each specific Statutory Declaration must be appropriately drafted by the individual or his/her agent. Exact specifications of the Statutory Declaration must be included in the content.

After the Statutory Declaration has been drafted, it must be signed in the presence of an Embassy or Consulate Official in the State you reside.
